I don't think there are many better ways, of connecting with our past, than buying antiques. There are many different types of antiques to collect eg. china, furniture, silver, gold, coins etc.
Some of the materials used are hazardous today, and so one needs to be careful about buying, handling and storing these items. Always seek advice from a suitable professional.
